The Amundsen Vikings's game on Tuesday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. The match between Amundsen and Lane Tech wasn't particularly close, with Amundsen falling 52-34. While losing is never fun, Amundsen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Lane Tech is ranked 161st).
Amundsen lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kate Frey, who scored five points along with two steals.
Amundsen dropped their record down to 9-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.2 points per game. As for Lane Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amundsen will take on Senn at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Senn is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Lane Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kenwood at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Kenwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
