Southwestern - North recap Oct. 3, 2012
Bangor moved up to 387 from 446 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southwestern - North. The Vikings were able to make the jump by beating Fennville 46-0.
Saugatuck was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Indians defeated Martin 62-6.
Logan Bush threw for 66 yards and three touchdowns. He went three-three with zero interceptions.
T.J. Sabota was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 124 yards on 13 carries as Bloomingdale defeated Bloomingdale. Teammate Matt Tewell added to the ground attack by rushing for 70 yards.
Joey Olsiewicz provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers defeated the Cardinals. He completed six passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for one yards. Olsiewicz's favorite target this week was Blodgett, who caught three passes for 63 yards.
Gobles' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Olsiewicz has thrown for 553 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Jacob Tiller has six catches for 138 yards. Adam Vosburg leads the league in rushing with 903 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Gobles takes on the Clippers. Jim Wiseley's team's offense has recorded 266 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Martin has permitted only 386 on the year.
The Tigers' Vosburg needs only 97 yards against Keith Snyder's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Blackhawks take on Saugatuck. As it stands, Fennville is in fourth, while Bill Dunn's team is in second.
The Indians took down the Clippers 62-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Bush in the win.
