The St. Charles East Fighting Saints''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 24-3 walloping at the hands of Wheaton-Warrenville South. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Charles East in their matchups with Wheaton-Warrenville South: they've now lost four in a row.
Mac Paul threw for 238 yards on 21 of 34 attempts. Sheko Gjokaj was his top target, picking up 113 receiving yards.
St. Charles East's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Wheaton Academy and 10-4 Batavia (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.6% over those games). As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
St. Charles East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wheaton-Warrenville South will head out on the road to face off against Hersey at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hersey will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
