Baseball Recap: Fouke Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fouke ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Harmony Grove Hornets 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Joshua Scoggins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Fouke's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Scoggins was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Cody Watkins and Evan Moody did most of the damage at the plate: Watkins got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run, while Moody went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Cody Heflin was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases and one run.

Fouke's record now sits at 5-3. As for Harmony Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Fouke will venture away from home to challenge Prescott at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Harmony Grove, they will head out to face off against Ashdown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
