Softball Recap: Homewood Beats Jackson-Olin for Their Third Straight Win

Homewood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Jackson-Olin Mustangs get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 24-0 on April 1st.

Grace Pilgrim looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Homewood got a massive performance out of Allie Stuman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Kloeanne Smith was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

Homewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Homewood's win bumped their record up to 15-12-1. As for Jackson-Olin, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Homewood will face off against Pelham at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson-Olin, they will challenge Minor at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.24 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
