After flying high against the Central Chargers last Friday, the Veterans Warhawks came back down to earth. Veterans was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 62-61 to Swainsboro. Veterans was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Swainsboro apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Tuesday.
Despite the defeat, Veterans had strong showings from Chandler Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds, and Antonio ??tone?? scott, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Thomas' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Abner, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Veterans' loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Swainsboro, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Veterans is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Riverdale at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Riverdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Saturday. Swainsboro will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Glenn Hills at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. Glenn Hills is on a four-game streak of home losses, Swainsboro a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
