Baseball Game Preview: Northshore Panthers vs. Loranger Wolves

Northshore has gone a perfect 3-0 against Loranger recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Northshore Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Loranger Wolves at 6:30 p.m. Northshore will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

While Northshore didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Northlake Christian on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

Carson Malasovich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Northshore's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Ethan Sumner also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Loranger brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on Hammond with a sharp 14-4 win on Tuesday. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Northshore pushed their record up to 10-1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs over those games. As for Loranger, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-3.

Northshore beat Loranger 8-4 in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Will Northshore repeat their success, or does Loranger have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
