The Community Christian Cyclones will take on Ahoskie Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ahoskie Christian will be up against a hot Community Christian team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Community Christian's pitcher stepped up to hand Neuse Christian Academy a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday.
Lora Ielfield was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Renfrow, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Emma Horne was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Community Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Ahoskie Christian won against New Life Christian Academy on Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Ahoskie Christian was the clear victor by a 16-2 margin over Suffolk Christian Academy. The victory was nothing new for Ahoskie Christian as they're now sitting on three straight.
Like Community Christian, Ahoskie Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Kinsley Dunlow. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Dunlow was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Casey Piland was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Myah Bradley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Community Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-0-1. As for Ahoskie Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Community Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Ahoskie Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Community Christian might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Ahoskie Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Community Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
