The Woodside Wolverines''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Heritage, falling 42-0. Woodside was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Heritage apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Zephaniah Palacious threw for 41 yards on two of nine attempts. Kaeden Outlaw was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards. On the ground, Tayshawn Campbell rushed for 44 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyree Wilson, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Derrick Gurley jr was another key contributor, rushing for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Woodside's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.8 points per game. As for Heritage, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-5.
Woodside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Heritage will head out on the road to face off against Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Grafton is ranked 136th, while Heritage is ranked 127th).
