The Woodrow Wilson Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Lakewood Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodrow Wilson is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Woodrow Wilson pushed their score all the way to 43 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jordan.
The losing side was boosted by Christian Chapman, who rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Chapman is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Mack Cooper was another key contributor, throwing for 230 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lakewood fell victim to Millikan's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Rams, falling 43-0. While losing is never fun, Lakewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Millikan is ranked 49th).
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Woodrow Wilson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 172 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lakewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 162.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Woodrow Wilson took a serious blow against Lakewood when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 41-0. Can Woodrow Wilson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
