The Pierce Bears will challenge the Durham Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pierce has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Pierce managed to slip by Willows the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bears came up short against the Honkers on Friday, falling 23-16.
Rylie Delepierre made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Danica Wilkerson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Durham came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 5-3.
Annalee Horn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Horn wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Kolu, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Sadie Sjolund, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Durham's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Pierce, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pierce hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Durham struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pierce might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Durham in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
