D1 District 9 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Alma's Jarrod Bantam recorded the longest rushing play in D1 District 9 (8 Man) this season in his game against Ansley/Litchfield last week. Bantam ran for 64 yards on the play and finished with 192 on the day as his team lost to the Warriors.
Brady Stuhmer and Bantam provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Ansley/Litchfield. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 66 yards.
Alma's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Stuhmer threw for 183 and four touchdowns and Bantam had 82 yards receiving. Chris Simmons helped Alma's passing attack out by catching five balls for 52 yards.
Gage Schutz made the biggest impact on defense this week as Arapahoe defeated Elm Creek. The senior pulled down two interceptions.
Isaac Frecks's team's Stuhmer and Bantam have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stuhmer has thrown for 586 yards this season, while Bantam, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 13 catches for 311 yards. The Warriors' Caden Weverka leads the league in rushing yards with 585.
The marquee game in D1 District 9 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Overton and Arapahoe. The Eagles enters the contest ranked 10th in the state, while Dustin Sealey's team ranks 11th.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Overton takes on the Warriors. The Eagles have allowed 26 points this season, while Arapahoe has given up 47.
Overton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Southwest, 74-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
