Avoyelles Charter typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Alexandria proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 53-49 victory over the Vikings. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 3 on the offensive boards, as Alexandria did.
Ashton Bobb and Markel Gaines were among the main playmakers for Alexandria as the former scored 15 points along with two steals and the latter scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Bobb scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was A'myrion Mingo, who scored two points along with two steals.
Pineville suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Ouachita Parish by a score of 53-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pineville came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Ouachita Parish is ranked 74th).
Alexandria has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Pineville, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.
Alexandria came up short against Pineville when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 75-62. Can Alexandria avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
