4A Region III District 18 recap November 5, 2013
Brenham added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region III District 18 this week by beating Huntsville, 63-21. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Magnolia moved up to 670 from 708 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to move up by topping Willis 21-16.
Earnest Patterson was a beast in the backfield as Brenham topped the Hornets.
Patterson was a passing and rushing force as Glen West's team defeated Huntsville. Patterson's key target this week was James Homan, who caught 3 passes for 59 yards.
Patterson was the best running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 222 yards as the Cubs lost to Montgomery. JaMichael Adams also contributed to the rushing game with 58 yards on the ground.
Leading 4A Region III District 18 in both passing and receiving yards, the Rangers' Brady Batten and Johnson have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Batten has thrown for 1,387 yards this season, while Johnson has 39 catches for 730 yards. Brenham's Patterson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,445.
The Bears are in second place, while Magnolia is in fifth place.
Andy Sexton's team and the Wildkats played the closest game in the league this week, with Andy Sexton's team eventually emerging with a 21-16 victory.
