Centennial is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will face off against the Green Valley Gators at 3:30 p.m. Centennial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Centennial took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Arbor View. That looming 13-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.
Terrell Otis was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Kobe Peterson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Green Valley has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.43 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Arbor View. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Gators have suffered since April 25, 2024.
Green Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Alba, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Green Valley moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.8 runs. As for Centennial, their record is now 4-2.
Green Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Centennial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for Green Valley, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Centennial's hitters?
Centennial couldn't quite get it done against Green Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can Centennial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
