Beamer and Decatur are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Titans will welcome the Golden Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beamer has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Beamer couldn't beat Federal Way on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Titans lost 18-6 to the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.
Leo Wilcox and Kiana-Nikole Smiley did some serious damage despite the final result: Wilcox went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Smiley earned two runs and three stolen bases. Wilcox also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Asialynn Solia was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Decatur made easy work of Kent-Meridian on Monday and carried off a 21-1 win. Considering the Golden Gators have won four matches by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jordin Prum made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Prum was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Hackney, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahea Sharpe, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .842. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Beamer, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Beamer has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Decatur struggles in that department as they've averaged .559. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beamer might still be hurting after the 17-4 defeat they got from Decatur in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
