The Ballard Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Chilhowee Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Missouri (Ballard is ranked 592nd, while Chilhowee is ranked 585th).
Ballard had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Miami on Thursday as Ballard made off with a 60-39 victory. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Ballard considering their 12-point performance the matchup before.
Ballard found their leader in underclassman Payson Hill, who scored 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hill has scored at least a third of Ballard's points. Another player making a difference was Cade Callahan, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Chilhowee pushed their score all the way to 55 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Bronaugh at home by a decisive 72-55 margin. Chilhowee's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
Ballard's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-16. As for Chilhowee, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.
Ballard and Chilhowee were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but Ballard came up empty-handed after a 54-53 defeat. Can Ballard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
