The Huss Huskies's 18-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to West Charlotte 56-52. That's two games in a row now that Huss has lost by exactly four points.
Despite the loss, Huss had strong showings from Satchelle Pettis, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips, who scored nine points along with five steals. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zamarius 'Z-Man' Gladden, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Huss were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West Charlotte's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damani Day, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Day has scored at least 25% of West Charlotte's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Littlejohn, who scored three points along with 20 rebounds and three blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Huss and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for West Charlotte, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
