Basketball Game Preview: Providence Prep Rams vs. Grace Academy

Providence Prep is 8-2 against Grace Academy since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Providence Prep Rams will face off against Grace Academy at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grace Academy will be up against a hot Providence Prep squad: the team just extended their winning streak to nine. Providence Prep breezed by Methodist Children's Home to the tune of 68-22 on Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Rams just coasted through the last quarter.

Providence Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Asa Jackson led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to six boards and four steals. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Jackson, who posted 13 points.

Providence Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Grace Academy came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warriors 85-17. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-11.

Grace Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Providence Prep, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Everything went Providence Prep's way against Grace Academy in their previous matchup back in January, as Providence Prep made off with a 71-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
