After flying high against Propel Braddock Hills last Wednesday, the Clairton Bears came back down to earth. Clairton fell 72-61 to the Eagles on Friday. Clairton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Clairton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryant Blair, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blair has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taris Wooding, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Serra Catholic was led to victory by Isiah Petty and Pete Burke. Petty scored 23 points, while Burke scored 26 points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Sapida, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Clairton's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10. As for Serra Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Leechburg the next time they take the court. Serra Catholic will host Leechburg at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Clairton will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
