Basketball Recap: Stone Mortensen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Carbon

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Manti's strategy against Carbon on Wednesday. The Manti Templars walked away with a 73-60 win over the Carbon Dinos. The Templars didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Manti's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stone Mortensen, who posted 13 points and four steals. That's the most points Mortensen has posted since back in November of 2024. Dax Anderson was another key player, going 7 for 15 on his way to 19 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Carbon lost, don't look at Logan Bennett. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyler Orth, who earned nine points and five boards.

Manti's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Carbon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Manti will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. Manti is facing North Sanpete at the right time seeing as North Sanpete is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Carbon, they are taking a road trip to face off against Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carbon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.
