It's playoff time, and Lisbon had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Spruce Mountain Phoenix on Thursday as they made off with a 9-2 win. Considering the Greyhounds have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mackenzie Eaton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sophia Bowie was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Aubriana Bright, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lisbon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spruce Mountain only posted a batting average of .200.
Lisbon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Spruce Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Looking ahead, Lisbon will square off against Hall-Dale on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Greyhounds 4.1, the Bulldogs 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Spruce Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
