The Stevens Falcons were the 66-55 winner over the O'Connor Panthers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Stevens' tough 69-43 defeat to O'Connor on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. Stevens has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Stevens lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amare Parham. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.2% of Stevens' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cesar Roman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Julian Barron was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds for O'Connor. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barron has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Braylen Mcmillen, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Stevens' defeat dropped their record down to 17-14. As for O'Connor, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 20-12.
Stevens will square off against Warren at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Stevens is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. As for O'Connor, they will be playing at home against Sotomayor at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. O'Connor is on a four-game streak of home wins, Sotomayor a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
