Softball Recap: Burbank Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Burbank got themselves on the board against Brackenridge on Tuesday, but Brackenridge never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.

Evelyn Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Guerrero, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Giselle Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Burbank always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brackenridge only posted an OBP of .125.

Burbank has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brackenridge, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.
