The Wimberley Texans are on the road again on Friday and play against the Bellville Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wimberley extended their postseason success on Friday against Sinton. They blew past the Pirates 38-13. Given Wimberley's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Sinton is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cody Stoever, who rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. Stoever is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Birdsong, who picked up 149 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bellville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 31-7 margin over Jasper. Bellville's win was all the more impressive since Jasper was averaging only 17.57 points allowed on the season.
DD Murray was his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Murray really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bellville's defense and their four sacks. Jasper's QB won't forget Cory Richardson anytime soon given Richardson sacked him 2.5 times.
Their wins bumped Wimberley to 14-0 and Sinton to 10-3-1.
