The Platte Canyon Huskies lost against the Middle Park Panthers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Platte Canyon falling 39-21.
Platte Canyon's loss came despite strong showings from Sydney Curtis and Ily Hardey. Curtis scored ten points along with two steals, while Hardey scored seven points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 47.6% of Platte Canyon's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Caylie Lewis, who scored no points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Platte Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Platte Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Middle Park, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing KIPP Denver Collegiate the next time they take the court. Platte Canyon will host KIPP Denver Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Middle Park will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
