Northland Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the First Baptist Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northland Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Last Friday, Northland Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Faith West Academy, taking the game 59-48.
Northland Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andon "AJ" Newton, who scored 20 points along with nine steals and eight assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Newton has scored at least a third of Northland Christian's points. Gabriel McKnight was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, First Baptist Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 82-43 defeat at the hands of Westbury Christian. First Baptist Christian has struggled against Westbury Christian recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Northland Christian's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for First Baptist Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Northland Christian skirted past First Baptist Christian 46-44 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Northland Christian repeat their success, or does First Baptist Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
