The Venice Gondoliers will stay at home for another week and welcome the Huntington Park Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Venice strolled past Fairfax with points to spare, taking the game 20-6.
Amir Smith was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Kenyon Alexander made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Huntington Park entered their tilt with South Gate with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Huntington Park took their game on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 40-0 win over South Gate. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Huntington Park had established a 34 point advantage.
Huntington Park can attribute much of their success to Noah Mancillas, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Plaza., who rushed for nine yards and a touchdown.
Huntington Park's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Victor Espinoza and his two sacks.
Venice has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Huntington Park, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-5.
