Doddridge County is 9-1 against South Harrison since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Doddridge County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so South Harrison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Doddridge County heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Wednesday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ritchie County. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 10, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Tessa Mayle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Doddridge County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia See, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Harrison). They never let Braxton County get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Wednesday. The Hawks have beaten the Eagles the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Not much got past Ava Louk, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Braxton County off the board. Louk has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, South Harrison got a massive performance out of Emily Squires, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Riley Myers was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
South Harrison lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.
South Harrison pushed their record up to 9-13 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Doddridge County, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-6.
Everything went Doddridge County's way against South Harrison in their previous matchup back in April, as Doddridge County made off with a 12-4 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
