Basketball Recap: San Juan Hills Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

San Juan Hills lost to Mission Hills back in December of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The San Juan Hills Stallions strolled past the Mission Hills Grizzlies with points to spare, taking the game 76-58. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Juan Hills had a senior duo take command as Adam Aziz went 10 of 16 on his way to 23 points and eight assists and Mason Hodges almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Aziz has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Rocco Jensen was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

San Juan Hills' win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Mission Hills, they dropped their record down to 6-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

San Juan Hills will take on Cypress in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. San Juan Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Cypress likes a good challenge. As for Mission Hills, they will venture away from home to challenge La Jolla Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Jolla Country Day has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
