Chester and Perryville are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will host the Pirates at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Chester will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
If Chester beats Perryville with seven runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Yellowjackets walked away with a 7-2 victory over Zeigler-Royalton on Friday.

Kolton Jany was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Chester's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Malley, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Chester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Perryville didn't have quite enough to beat Chester on Thursday and fell 7-6.
Bryce Weber was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Gideon Stueve and Waylon Huber stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stueve went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Huber went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Stueve is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ty Peeler, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Chester's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Perryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Chester skirted past Perryville 7-6 in their previous meeting on Thursday. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
