Pathways has been on the road for six straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pathways fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Lake Nona on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 61-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Saturday (55), Pathways still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Adrian Mutothori, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Steven Edwards was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Pathways smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech strolled past Montverde Academy Regional with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 65-50. Given Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Montverde Academy Regional is ranked 417th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nayvin Perez, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Perez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adiel Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Pathways' loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Pathways hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61.8 points per game. It's a different story for Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech, though, as they've been averaging only 75.7 points per game. The only thing between Pathways and another offensive beatdown is Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Pathways couldn't quite finish off Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 57-55. Can Pathways avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
