Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lathrop walked away with it. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Lincoln Fighting Zebras on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Treydon Santos had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 97 yards on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lathrop was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 281 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only rushed for 105.
Lincoln's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brock Galer, who rushed for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Eli Duff, who rushed for 43 yards and one score.
Lathrop's record now sits at 10-1. As for Lincoln, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Coming up, Lathrop will take on Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
