Donegal hasn't had much luck against Ephrata recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountaineers at 4:15 p.m. Donegal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Donegal is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Manheim Central on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Barons by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Donegal saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Cornelius, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Ephrata can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against Penn Manor by a score of 6-2.
Ephrata also got a great performance from Collin Miller as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
At the plate, Reese Bromirski was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden Mietelski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Ephrata kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 6-3. As for Donegal, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Donegal has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ephrata struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
