AAAAA Region 4A recap September 17, 2013
Forest Park moved up to 329 from 386 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAAA Region 4A. The Panthers were able to make move up by losing to Union Grove 28-0.
Mt. Zion lost to Washington 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Drew's dynamic duo of Brandon Pearson and Joseph Newman proved to be unstoppable against Rockdale County, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pearson threw for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns and Newman had 137 yards receiving. Demarco Smith helped Drew's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 35 yards.
Drew's dynamic duo of Pearson and Newman proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Pearson put up the best numbers through the air as Jarrett Laws' team fell to Rockdale County.
He was 14-37 with 2 interceptions.
Luke Parker was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 58 yards on 7 carries as the Wolverines fell to the Bulldogs. Teammate Trevor Gear added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Newman was the best wideout in the league this week as Drew fell to Rockdale County.
Leading AAAAA Region 4A in both passing and receiving yards, Union Grove's Jonathan Slade and Caleb Ham have proven to be a lethal combination. Slade has thrown for 647 yards this season, while Ham has 11 catches for 198 yards. Dejuan Simms from Forest Park leads the league in rushing with 322 yards.
Paul Burgdorf's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 28 points on John Diehl's team. Slade threw for 180 yards in the win.
