Reading hasn't had much luck against Muhlenberg recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Anferny Trinidad made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Trinidad was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Reading got a massive performance out of Frandy Ruiz, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs Ruiz has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of John Urena, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Reading kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Muhlenberg fell victim to Governor Mifflin and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 10-0. It was the first time this season that the Muhls let down their fans at home.
Muhlenberg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Moody, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Reading's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Muhlenberg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Reading's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Red KNights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Muhlenberg, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Reading continue to outrun the ball?
