Wicomico is 9-1 against the Warriors since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wicomico Indians will be staying on the road to face off against the Pocomoke Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Wicomico will be strutting in after a victory while the Warriors will be coming in after a loss.
Wicomico can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They beat Crisfield by the very same score they won with last week: 71-51.
Meanwhile, Pocomoke struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Seahawks had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pocomoke was outmatched by the Seahawks on the road and fell 88-48. Pocomoke was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-20.
Despite their loss, Pocomoke saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malachi Bonneville, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Bonneville has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Jamir Roberts was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Wicomico's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Pocomoke, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Wicomico came up short against the Warriors in their previous meeting back in January, falling 71-66. Can Wicomico avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
