It was a good run, but The Athol Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 34-18 fall against Hoosac Valley. Athol was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hoosac Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2016.
When it comes to explaining why Athol lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Ouellet. Despite the final result, he picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Athol's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Hoosac Valley, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Athol will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Mahar Regional at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Mahar Regional is ranked 280th, while Athol is ranked 257th). As for Hoosac Valley, they will take on Old Colony RVT at TBD on Friday. Old Colony RVT is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
