Softball Recap: Laton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Laton entered their tilt with Valley Christian Academy on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Lions 25-15. Considering the Mustangs have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Laton got a massive performance out of Samantha Peralez, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Peralez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Heffley, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Laton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .761. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Laton pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 7.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others. As for Valley Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Laton will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Alpaugh at 4:15 p.m. Laton will need to watch out since Alpaugh has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Valley Christian Academy, they will challenge Coastal Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
