The Jamestown Eagles put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 83-14 win over New Kent. Fans of Jamestown have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Leading Jamestown to victory were Raini Mayo and Maddie Leach. Mayo scored 23 points, while Leach scored 30 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Leach has scored at least 25% of Jamestown's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Moore, who scored ten points.
Jamestown pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for New Kent, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Jamestown will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bruton at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Bruton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Jamestown is ranked 14th). New Kent will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Smithfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Smithfield is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
