Polo is 1-6 against Milan since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Polo Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Milan Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Polo's defense has only allowed 26.5 points per game this season, so Milan's offense will have their work cut out for Milan.
Last Friday, Polo strolled past Maysville with points to spare, taking the game 43-25.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Milan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mercer 63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Milan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Pickering led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Pickering set a new season high mark in points with 17. Marian Dabney was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five blocks.
Polo pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26 points. As for Milan, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Polo strolled past Milan when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 48-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Polo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
