Softball Recap: Laurens Wins Going Away Against Southside

Laurens won the last time they faced Southside and things went their way on Thursday too. The Laurens Raiders blew past the Southside Tigers 24-1. Considering the Raiders have won four games by more than 14 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Zealy Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Martin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Addison Trevino was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Addy Carlisle was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Laurens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Laurens now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southside, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Laurens didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-2 loss against Clinton on the 14th. Southside will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on March 26th.
