The Pine Forest Eagles posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past West Florida 64-38. Given Pine Forest's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while West Florida is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Niylia Wilkins, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Wilkins is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chrisshona Bargaineer, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Pine Forest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for West Florida, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Forest on the road again on Friday and play against Booker T. Washington at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Booker T. Washington will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for West Florida, they will head out on the road to face off against Choctawhatchee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Choctawhatchee is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
