While losing is never fun, Hardin Valley Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Gatlinburg-Pittman is ranked fifth).
Maddy Newman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gatlinburg-Pittman, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Newman has scored at least 25% of Gatlinburg-Pittman's points. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Glasper, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Hardin Valley Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hardin Valley Academy will take on Maryville at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Maryville is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Riverside at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th. Riverside has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 203 points over their last three matchups.
