Logan is 0-10 against Mountain Crest since April of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Grizzlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Logan comes in on four and Mountain Crest on three.
While Logan's victory against Sky View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bobcats 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Marcus Shopbell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Logan let Josh Jensen and Kyler Briel run wild. Jensen scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Briel went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Logan is 2-1 when Jensen posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sam Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mountain Crest sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Timpanogos on Tuesday.
Mountain Crest also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Rylin Needham gave up four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those hits were Needham's first of the season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Pearce, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Bradford, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Mountain Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Logan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Crest, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Logan might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Mountain Crest in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
