If Clear Lake wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Clear Creek, they should've done a better job of containing Elissa James. The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 win over the Falcons on Friday with plenty of help from James, who had 25 digs and seven assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.
While Clear Creek might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Clear Lake scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Brazoswood came up short against Deer Park on Friday, falling 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-12, 25-11.
Clear Creek's victory bumped their record up to 18-15. As for Brazoswood, their loss dropped their record down to 8-21.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Clear Creek has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Brazoswood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Clear Creek's way against Brazoswood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Clear Creek made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
