The Wheatmore Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the East Davidson Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wheatmore is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Wheatmore and Randleman had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Wheatmore might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-3 to Randleman, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Adalyn Boles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emma Carter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Nichols, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Davidson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Union Grove Christian on Monday. Considering the Golden Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
ALYSSA STALEY made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Kenzi Cribb was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Leah Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
East Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union Grove Christian only posted a batting average of .217.
East Davidson's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Wheatmore, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
