The McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 16th straight loss. They fell to Charlton County 48-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McIntosh County Academy in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost seven in a row.
It was another big night for Mahogany Steele, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds for Charlton County. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Steele has scored all season. Rihanna Battle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
McIntosh County Academy's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.2 points per game. As for Charlton County, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12.
McIntosh County Academy will square off against the War Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Charlton County, they and the Rebels will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Atkinson County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Indians like a good challenge.
