CRESTON, Ohio - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Norwayne (Creston, Ohio) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Bobcats beat Northwestern (West Salem, Ohio) 48-7.
After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter, the Bobcats led 14-7 at the half.
Norwayne expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Creston school's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by
Joe Dreher to Smith.
The Bobcats secured its victory by scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 41.
Smith stood out for Norwayne in the win. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
The Huskies' lone touchdown came on a 33-yard run in the first quarter.
The Bobcats came into the game allowing 7.8 points per game.
Norwayne also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 55-8.
