After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ashley Ridge, the Stall Warriors were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Ashley and snuck past 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Stall has posted since December 27, 2023.
Stall's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makayla Waiters, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Waiters is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lea Anderson, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
West Ashley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Elliott, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Ella Crowe was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Stall's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for West Ashley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Stall will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Summerville at 7:00 p.m. Summerville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stall in South Carolina (Summerville is ranked 23rd, while Stall is ranked 92nd). As for West Ashley, they will head out on the road to square off against Ashley Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ashley Ridge has nine straight victories, West Ashley has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
